So what is this blog about?

It’s a blog about comics. I started reading comics from DC and Marvel obsessively about 5 years ago, and I haven’t slowed down one bit. I find that the more I read, the more I realize just how much more I haven’t tackled yet.

The idea for the blog came when a friend asked me why Ryan Reynolds was portraying Green Lantern when GL ought to be black. Yes. It really happened. I then explained to her that there were 4 GL’s from Earth and one just happened to have been selected for the Justice League cartoon.

Fast forward 1 year later, and another friend asked me the same question. A few days later and this blog was born. This is for anyone who’s not overly familiar with comic books, and would like to familiarize themselves with what would pass as common knowledge to comic book readers. I’m a newb myself so all of my entries would be pretty basic. I’m not even going to pretend I know a lot so I’ll be leaving the hard stuff to the hardcore comic book geeks.

  1. Hey! I love your blog, and I’ve been visiting ever since I found out you were posting Injustice: GAU (aka one of my favorite story arcs). I started reading DC a little over 2 years ago and I especially love Nightwing and BB Batman. Just wondering, are you going to continue to post Injustice and DC, or are you going to switch back over to Marvel?

Keep up the great work!! Your blog is amazing!! 🙂

PS. I’d love to see some Batman Beyond on here one day!!

    • Hi Emily.

I’m glad you found something you liked. 🙂 Injustice is by far one of my favorite series as well. I’m a bit sad that it’s about to end early March, I think they could have easily added an extra year given the amount of characters we haven’t seen yet.

I make it a point to switch periodically from DC and Marvel, so hopefully you’ll find something else you like. Batman Beyond? I’ve been meaning to start reading Future’s End, and to post that BB storyline where they showed a future Dick Grayson (not sure if you’ve read it yet so I won’t spoil it for you).

      But again. thanks for reading!

  2. Hey! Just wanna let you know what a great job you’re doing with this site! I was really into comics in the earlier 2000s but sort of fell out from it when I didn’t really like the direction of how things were going (especially new 52 at DC). I stumbled onto your site and the Injustice series looked like it was pre-new 52 era (even if it’s elseworlds) and I love it. Started reading again thanks to you and enjoying it! Keep up the good work! (Hope Convergence rolls back some of the changes I don’t like so much haha)

    • Hey fuzz,

Thanks for taking the time to write something. Glad you’re enjoying the posts and that you’re getting back into the comics scene. There’s a lot of things that I also don’t like with the New 52 but luckily we managed to get some decent stories out of it. I’m trying not to get my hopes with up Convergence but hopefully we can get a balanced results out of it, I’m still not ready to give up some storylines from the New 52. 😀

And yeah, Injustice: Gods Among Us really pulled out all the stops. Year 4 just started and here’s to hoping it goes out with a bang.

      • Haha yeah I mean not ALL of New 52 is bad, but I have my pet peeves on some things… (like the apparent non-existence of the Helena Bertinelli Huntress, and that other doesn’t count) What of New 52 are you enjoying if I may ask? Maybe I could try delving back into the deep…

      • Don’t get me started on Huntress. When she first appeared on the Grayson series “changed”, I almost quit even though I Nightwing is a favorite of mine.

I tend to float from one issue to another but here’s what I follow without missing an issue: Justice League, Nightwing and Wonder Woman. If you want to read something that doesn’t involve itself on events and crossovers, I highly recommend Wonder Woman. It’s very easy to get sucked into since it’s all one linear story. I remember marathoning at least 25 issues in one sitting.

  3. Hi Willie Chan,
I love comics, but most all of them from Japan (Manga) or Korea (Manhwa). In my age, DC or Marvel comic was very rare in our small city in Indonesia. But, you have absolutely great niche blog here. Unique and it seems match with your passion about comics.

Oh, by the way, thanks for stopping by in my blog 😉
    Best regards

  4. I love Marvel comic movies and X-men the animated series. I used to read comic book guidebooks in middle school and my dad used to have some comics but he gave them away. Where do you think would be a good place to start reading comics when there’s so many out there it’s overwhelming!

    • Hi! I think the best place for you to start is any of the X-men series out there. Starting with Uncanny X-Men #500 is a good place as any since the X-men relocated to San Francisco and is the start of a lot of great story arcs. 🙂

  5. Looking for some help finding a specific Spider-man / Wolverine conversation.
I forget the nature of the conversation, but toward the end, Spider-man says something to the effect to Wolverin… “Don’t take my hate away from me… It’s all I have”
Can you help me find that comic?

  6. Hi there, where is the best place in Manila to buy the trade paperbacks of Chuck Austen and Peter Milligan’s X-Men run?

    • Hey Sean! I’d say these 3 are your best bet: Filbars, Comic Quest and Comic Odyssey. The big malls would usually have 1 or 2 branches.

  7. Hi! I really like your site. I am starting in the world of comics and I am really interested in Batman (probably from the rebirth on, at least for now) and I was wondering if you have a page where they are organized or like know a website with a list of the order in which to read and so. I don’t have much idea where to start.
