Captain America Sam Wilson and Steve Rogers, now a HYDRA agent because of the cosmic cube, tries to rescue hostages from Flag-Smasher. Sam throws the shield as Flag-Smasher is about to kill a hostage and misses, allowing Flag-Smasher to shoot the American senator dead. Later on, Steve would tell Dr. Erik Selvig he intentionally positioned Sam in his spot in order to make sure he misses Flag-Smasher with his shield.
