Bane and his father survive the brutal conditions of Peña Duro prison following a failed rebellion in Santa Prisca. After a decade of imprisonment, during which they subsist on rats, Bane leads a successful prison break and returns with his father to their island home. There, they encounter the Joker, who offers Bane an unknown deal, which he accepts. Afterward, Bane embraces his father, who returns the hug, before Bane breaks his back, killing him.
