Astonishing X-Men Volume 3

This is actually the third volume of the Astonishing X-men series, and in my opinion the most celebrated one because of one main reason: Joss Whedon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Avengers fame. Aside from the crisp and funny dialogue you’ve come to expect from the Whedon, this series takes right after Grant Morrison’s New X-Men series. For those not familiar with Morrison’s series, one of the very first things he did was to do away with the mutant costumes and adapted the same approach as Bryan Singer’s X-Men movies: Black leather uniforms for everyone. So if there’s one major thing that the Astonishing series contributed to the X-Men universe, I would have to say it brought back the colorful costumes we’ve all grown up with.
