Hawkeye previously confided to Spider-Man that he trains religiously because he wants to prove that despite being a person with no powers, he rightfully belongs in the Avengers. With Hawkeye’s self confidence at stake, Spider-Man does the selfless thing and saves his friend’s ego by giving the credit of stopping the villain to Hawkeye.
