I was disgusted to learn that the writers went ahead with this bs idea, and more disgusted that marvel publish the story. Gwen Stacy was Peter first true love, and she wouldn’t do that even if she was still getting over her father death. The fact that they had she also was pregnant with twins after there first time and she wasn’t even 18. The writers where trying to disrespect Gwen Stacy legacy while trying to make MJ look like a Saint.
The writer has nothitng to do with it. It was the editor who wanted to keep Spidey young, just like when they decided to have Gwen killed, instead of Aunt May, as it would give him some kind of character development into the adult world. And the worst part of it, One More Day was created to retcon this, but American Son brought it back. The good thing is, this crap is finally retconned. Turned out both of them were clones created to break Norman, along with Peter. Read the recent issue.
to be frank the writer J. Michael Straczynski is not to blame for this storyline. in fact he regretted the whole thing and the ideas are that of the editors warren simmons and alonso. in fact, they are the ones who put norman as the father.
