That’s a clever facet of Purple Man’s mind control powers. And it makes sense too! If he can control your brain, why not make it process false information through the eyes? Knowing this, he can also make someone stop smelling certain scents, or make someone go deaf. He can even hang around hospitals and make patients not feel anything, thus saving them the costs of anesthesia.
