Oh boy, how to explain this one. So Doctor Doom, for a period of time, served the role of Iron Man during Tony Stark’s absence. When Tony recovered from his coma, Victor relinquished the title but not the armor he used at that time. Turns out it’s in orbit awaiting orders to be deployed immediately upon Victor’s orders.
During his, Doctor Strange and Conan’s battle against the sorcerer Kulan Gath, Doctor Strange was poisoned by the latter and Doctor Doom ordered his armor to come with quick haste. The Iron Man armor quickly came to the rescue of the poisoned Stephen Strange and began pumping him with an antivenom. Strange then ordered the armor to divert all its resources and repulsers into defense and life support, as he will be providing the offensive power as the Sorcerer Supreme.
