The Sovereign, having failed twice in his attempts to break and control Wonder Woman, casts her off on an island where they also marooned another person they failed to break with the Lasso of Lies: the Cheetah. His plan was for the two mortal enemies to fight each other to the death, with the expectation that Wonder Woman would emerge victorious. His underlying motive was for Wonder Woman to break down after killing the Cheetah. However, to his dismay, Wonder Woman lost to the Cheetah but managed to reach out to her humanity, ending the fight without any death.
