Billy Butcher recalls the time when Colonel Mallory was still leading the Boys, and they confronted the Seven with their blackmail material. Things seemed to have gone well but the Lamplighter went rogue, against the Homelanders orders, and trailed Mallory into a hotel where his daughter and granddaughters were staying. Mallory took his daughter out to dinner and the Lamplighter killed the unattended granddaughters.
